WOODSTOCK REVISITED is a hypothetical popup exhibition celebrating the 50th Anniversary at Bethel Woods Center of the Arts. The exhibition focuses on the historical Woodstock festival in retrospect to the Vietnam War and the turmoil in the US. Half a million people came together in Bethel, NY during a time when the country was torn by war and making it known that together we can do wonderful things. It became a moment that came to define a generation. So it was important in this catalog to show the stories of this generation and hence the events leading up to Woodstock and events that resulted from it.
The catalog has four major parts; with each relating to major events and movement surrounding Woodstock to show how each of them affected one another.
I FEEL LIKE I’M FIXIN’ TO DIE RAG
This catalog focuses on the Vietnam War and the rise of the counterculture movement. With this being a grim time in the US history, the catalog is primarily black and white and has very limited color palette.
LOVE MARCH
This catalog focuses on the Woodstock festival hence the use of the vibrant colors that defined the 60s like the festival itself. The catalog shows all that happened during the festival, the problems, the people and the artists.
FREEDOM
This catalog focuses on the events as a result of the Woodstock festival and the counter-culture movement as whole. The cover is more vibrant while the text and photos inside are black and white.
THE TIMES THEY ARE CHANGING
This catalog focuses on the events following the U.S. withdrawing from the Vietnam War and the rise of the anti-war music. With a mix of both black and white, and color photograph, it shows the shift in the culture and political environment.
